As you may already know, on March 28, northbound traffic on I-75 was flipped over
to the southbound lanes for the remainder of this construction season. Two lanes of
traffic will be open in each direction with a temporary concrete barrier separating
northbound and southbound traffic. This is the same configuration that we implemented
when constructing the freeway from Coolidge to South Boulevard in 2016 and 2017. Northbound
I-75 will be closed and reconstructed during this time.
With this new traffic pattern, we will also have to close the following ramps:
- NB I-75 entrance ramp from EB Big Beaver Road
- NB I-75 entrance ramp from WB Big Beaver Road
- NB I-75 entrance ramp from Rochester Road
- NB I-75 entrance ramp from 14 Mile Road
- NB I-75 exit ramp to WB 14 Mile Road
These ramp closures will remain in place for the full 2019 construction season (now
until November). Check the website for alternate route suggestions,
or feel free to use other wayfinding apps to further navigate through this construction.
Bridge demos to close local roads under I-75 at 14 Mile and Long Lake Roads this weekend
The I-75 modernization project is progressing, and this weekend starting Friday night,
April 5th at 10pm, crews will be closing both directions of 14 Mile and Long Lake
roads under I-75 for bridge demolitions on these two structures that carry northbound
I-75 over the local roads.
During this time, traffic on the freeway will not be impacted by these local road
closures, as all lanes are now using the southbound side of the freeway.
This will start at 10pm Friday and impact both directions of 14 Mile Road that will
be closed under I-75. Posted detours will use John R. Road, Stephenson Highway and
Rochester Road in both directions. 14 Mile Road will open by 5am Monday, April 8th.
At the same time (10pm Friday), both directions of Long Lake Road under I-75 will
be closed under I-75. Posted detours will use Livernois, Big Beaver and Crooks Roads
in both direction. Long Lake Road will open by 5am Monday, April 8th.
